How to Change Time in Windows 10 How to Change Date/Time in Windows 10 | Change Time in Windows 7, 8.1

maximios February 23, 2024 IT

To schedule everything many people like to keep an eye on the clock to ensure we’re on schedule. If you work on a computer, chances are you use the system in-built clock, which makes it inconvenient when the time displayed isn’t actually correct. If you’re using Windows 10, thanks to Windows 10 then it does a pretty good job at automatically determining your timezone and the actual time, this can sometimes go wrong, and you may need to manually change the time to ensure that it’s displaying the correct information.

In this article, we will walk you through how to change time in Windows 10. Read on.

1. First of all, open the Settings on your Windows 10. You can open the Settings by clicking the Windows icon on the lower-left-hand side of your taskbar, and type Settings, and click on it.

2. Now, click on the “Time & Language” option from the menu to open that menu. Now, if you want to automatically change the time, toggle the “Set Time automatically” switch on, which will turn blue when enabled. You can also choose to have Windows determine your time zone by enabling the “Set time zone automatically option just below.”

3. If you want to set the time manually on Windows 10, then make sure you disable the “Set time automatically” switch, as well as the “Set time zone automatically” switch. Then, click “Change” under the “Set the date and time manually” option.

4. Now, you can enter the time you want to set and hit Change. Doing so will update the system time. It should be noted that if you want Windows to update your system time and time zone automatically, but the currently displayed time is not correct, you can direct Windows to synchronize your computer’s time with their server by clicking “Sync now” under “Synchronize your clock.”

Now, click on the bottom-right clock icon on the taskbar, and choose Date and Time Settings. Or you can right-click on the clock icon, click Adjust Time.

As the Date and Time Windows opens, you can turn off Set Time Automatically. In the Data and Time Settings Windows, respectively change data and time, and then click OK to confirm the changes.

Like Windows 10, Windows 7 also keeps date and time on the track, but often with a new computer, you have to change the Windows time zone to match your location so it can maintain time accurately.

First of all, press the Windows key on your keyboard. Now, the Taskbar appears, if it isn’t already visible. The taskbar is the blue area at the very bottom of your screen.

Now, right-click on the Date/Time display on the far right end of the taskbar. Click on Adjust Date/Time from the shortcut menu that appears. Doing so will open the Date and Time dialog box that appears.

Now, click on the Change Date and Time button. Click in the Time filed and enter a new time, or click the up and down arrows next to that field to change the time. If you wish, click a few dates in the calendar to set the date.

Once you’re done with adjusting the date and time settings, click Ok.  You’re done!

To change the date/time on Windows 8.1, press the Window + I keyboard shortcut to display the Settings panel of the charms bar. Now, in the Settings panel, click on Change PC Settings.

In the PC Settings Panel, click on Time & Language. Now, click on the time zone field in the right panel and then select a time zone from the drop-down list.

If you want to change it, click on the Adjust for Daylight Saving Time Automatically On/Off button to turn this feature on/off. Press the Windows key on your keyboard to return to the Start Screen.

If you want to change the time zone, click the Change Time Zone button, choose an option from the Time Zone drop-down list, and click Ok.

When you click on the Change Time Zone button, the Time Zone Settings dialog box appears. By choosing a time zone appropriate to your location, Windows can make an automatic adjustment for Daylight Time as needed.

In case, you don’t want your computer to adjust for Daylight Saving Time, click the Automatically Adjust Clock for Daylight Saving Time check box in the Time Zone Settings dialog box to turn this feature off. Click OK and the new Settings are applied, and the dialog box closes.

To change the Time Format, remember you can configure the time format settings in the Settings app. The easiest way to get to the right page is to right-click on the clock in the taskbar and then click “Adjust date/time.” This option will be near the top of the drop-down box.

Doing so will open the Settings on Windows 10. Under Settings, on the Date/Time page, here you can set what time zone you’re in, but annoyingly you cannot choose between the 12-and-24 hour clocks. To get to the right page, you can click “Date, time & regional formatting” under “Released settings” in the top right.

Alternatively, you can click on the “Regional” tab/ Both will take you to the same place.

In the Region settings, click on the link at the bottom of the page “Change date formats. Here you can change the short and the long time displays to be in the 12-hour format. To do so, click on their respective drop-down boxes and choose the short format you prefer. The clock options are the 24-hour and 12-hour clocks, both with and without leading 0’s.
