Reddit is a great platform for friends, communities, with subreddits covering your interest imaginable. You can ask questions, post funny pictures, or share you’re most private thoughts with millions of other Reddit users. You can have fun with your Reddit account. The best part you are not limited to one account only, you can create more than one account. If you want to delete your Reddit account at some stage especially if it’s only temporary. Here’s how.

If you want to delete your account you’ll need to use a browser whether on phone or PC. You cannot delete your Reddit app on your phone.

Using PC or Mac

Visit https://reddit.com/ in a web browser. You can use any web browser to access Reddit. To login in Reddit account, click on Log In in the upper-right corner. Enter the username and password associated with your account and click sign in.

Bear in mind that deleting your Reddit account won’t delete any of your posts, comments you’ve made on Reddit. Before deleting your account, remove any comments or post you do not wish to be viewed on Reddit.

Click Username appearing on the right corner, doing so will open a drop-down menu.  Select User Settings from the drop-down menu below your username.

Scroll down and click Deactivate Account. You can find it at the bottom of the page next to an icon that resembles a trashcan.

On this page, you will need to enter the username and password associated with your Reddit account into the blanks. This will confirm that you own the Reddit account you want to delete.

Here, you need to click the checkbox at the bottom which will confirm that you know that deactivate accounts are not recoverable or deleting your account is permanent.  Once you delete your account it won’t be recovered.

Click the orange button that says “Deactivate” at the bottom of the form. It will prompt a pop-up window-click “Deactivate” red button and confirm to delete the account.

As you know that deleting your Reddit account will not delete your comment, post, and other things you’ve made on the app. It may also that you regret after posting or commenting on something so no problem,

To delete your Reddit history, you’ll need to delete the post and comments themselves. Luckily, this is easy to do.

Log into your Reddit account on Reddit.com and click on the Username in the top right corner, and then click on “My Profile”

Doing will take you to the “Overview” section of your profile, where each post and comments you’ve made will be listed. Find the particular post or comment you want to delete and click the ellipsis icon (“…”) below it, and then tap “Delete.”

Now, you’ll see that pop-up appear that says “deleting a post cannot be undone”. Click the “Delete Post” to confirm your choice. Repeat the steps if you want to delete the other post or comments.

Open the browser on your Mac or Pc and go to your setting. Find the “Extension” option at the bottom of the other options and search Nuke Reddit History extension. You can download the extension and install it on your Mac or PC.  Click Add to Chrome in the top-right. 

Once the extension downloaded, click on the orange icon in your chrome toolbar and choose “Overwrite & Delete All My Comments”, and/or “Delete All My Post.”

If you have multiple Reddit account, the extension will automatically start the process with the current log in Reddit account. 

Note: This will not prompt you to confirm your choice so make sure before deleting your history.
