How to Test Your Microphone on Windows 10 – Waredot

You can also change the microphone by clicking on the drop-down menu and choose a new options-make sure the right microphone is plugged-in correctly, or it won’t appear.

  1. Open your PC and at the bottom-right of the screen, in your taskbar, find the tiny icon that looks like a speaker. Now, click on the icon that looks like an up arrow. Doing so will show you icons that have been hidden from your taskbar.
  2. Now, right-click on the speaker icon and choose “Open Sound Settings.” Now, scroll down until you find the option that says “Input,” click on it. Windows will show you which microphone is currently working or using right now. You can also check the volume bar, it shows your speaker volume levels.
  3. Now, you need to try talking into your microphone. If the blue bar jumps around as you raise and lower your voice, that means it’s working correctly.

Make sure that your Microphone should be plugged into the pink jack on your Windows 7 or Vista PC unless it’s a USB microphone, which simply plugs into the USB port. Once you plugged in the microphone, test the microphone. Make sure that the testing procedure works differently depending on your versions of Windows. Here, we will discuss how to test microphone in Windows 7 and Windows Vista, follow the steps:

  1. First of all, ensure that the microphone is properly connected and stuff. Now, you will need to open the Control Panel and choose Ease of Access.
  2. Here, you can choose the link Set Up Microphone, found beneath the Speech Recognition heading. Now, the Microphone Setup Wizard materializes. Now, you will need to choose the type of microphone you’re using: the headset, cheap-o desktop microphone, or they-saw-you-coming microphone that the guy at the music store sold you.
  3. Now, hit the Next button, and so on. After seeing a few meaningless screens, you eventually approach the Adjust the Microphone Volume screen — pay dirt. To test; Speak away.
  4. Watch that green bar go! Basically, by seeing the visual feedback, you confirm that the microphone is working. Now, continue working through the wizard or just click Cancel.

If you already applied the above method, and still your mic is not working, you can troubleshoot this issue by installing a new microphone or set up the microphone again. If you don’t know how to do so, follow the steps:

First of all, make sure your microphone is connected to your PC. Now you need to click on Start and then choose Settings. Under Settings, choose System and click on the Sound option.

Alternatively, you can directly open the Sound settings from the search bar. Go to the search bar and type “Sound Settings,” and press Enter. It will open the Sound Settings option for you.

In Sound Settings, navigate to Input>Choose your Input device, and then choose the Microphone or recording device you want to use.

First of all, make sure your microphone is connected to your PC. Now you need to click on Start and then choose Settings. Under Settings, choose System and click on the Sound option.

In this condition, you can click on the “Troubleshoot” option to fix your Microphone. You can find this option just below the test microphone option title by “Troubleshoot.”
